Bob Scheri has been involved in the Catholic Healthcare Ministry through his entire career, beginning as Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Care in Boston at St. John of God and St. Elizabeth Hospitals. He served in various Mission and Ministry roles in Oregon and Washington within PeaceHeath for over 24 years. He most recently retired from his position in Ministry Leadership as Vice President of Mission Integration at CHI Memorial Health in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Throughout his ministry career in Mission Leadership, Health Care Ethics and Spiritual Care, he has focused much of his energies around care for the dying, the integration of the arts in healthcare, ministry leadership and education, and more recently addressing mental health, addiction, and homelessness. Bob was an early adopter of music-thanatology, introducing “Strings of Compassion” at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, Oregon – later expanding the service to other PeaceHealth facilities. He was instrumental in the further growth of Music Thanatology with other hospitals within the northwest.
