Jane Franz, CM-Th

Jane Franz has been a certified music-thanatologist for more than twenty years, holding both Chalice of Repose Project (CORP) and Music-Thanatology Association International (MTAI) certifications. From 2001-2015 she served as lead music-thanatologist for PeaceHealth Medical Centers and Hospices in Eugene, Springfield, and Florence, Oregon, working with patients at end of life, their loved ones, and staff in intensive care units, emergency departments, medical oncology wards, and throughout hospital and hospice settings. Her articles and interviews have been included in a variety of healthcare and spiritual publications, including Supportive Voice, Healing Spirit, and Ethos. She is a seasoned presenter for music-thanatology within healthcare and the broader community.
A member in good standing, Jane served as the Chair of the Ethics committee and the Certification Team for the MTAI. In 2015, with Sandra LaForge, Jane co-authored From Behind the Harp: Music in End of Life Care, Harpstrung Press. With co-founder and co-director Sharilyn Cohn, Jane developed the Music-Thanatology Training Program through Lane Community College, in Portland, OR, where she also served as a faculty member from 2007-2015. Jane received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, where she received a Jacob Van Ek award. She currently resides in Henderson, NV.
